6 over 6
One more time Rome, one more time was "Inno di Mameli" (our national song) the one who 10.000 people heard during the winning ceremony.
Mission complete: this year we get all the European Cups. i was sure that this would have been the first time that all the 6 European cups have been won by 6 clubs coming from the same nation, but this morning I read that it also happened in 1997....
I thought we did someting incredible this year and that's why I felt disappointed for few seconds reading that it had already happened, just the time to read thet WE did it in 1997.
90s has been our years, it was the period were Italy was the team to beat and in 1998 we won our 3rd World Cup in a row.
Those were the age of great players, Bernardi Papi Giani Fei Gardini and others were in Japan for the 1998 World Cup and once they retired we still have to win something on a world level...(damn Brasilians!!!)
Well, I just saw the few parts of the games that Eurosport showed today, but I've seen an awesome Alessandro Fei, 33 points, best server and MVP
For sure if they lost only one set in 2 games, all of them have played good volleyball, and I'm sure our captain will put the same energy to make that the Italian flag would be on the top of every other once!!!

Yeh Fei is unbelivable! 33 points in 4 sets is insane! Do you know if Papi and sartoretti and some of the older guys are going to play national team after World championships 2006?
It will be the end of some great careers if they retire.
Hey Nathan,
according to what I know Papi retired from the national team after the Silver Medal at the last Olympic Games in Athen.
I guess Sartoretti did it too...we open a new "era" with younger guys last summer at the European Championships.
Our opposites are Fei and Lasko, our Runnig-spikers are Cisolla, Cernic, Zlatanov, Savani and new ones are playing really well in their own clubs this season.
The way to the world cup is extremely long, the Italian Federation still has to decide if starting the league after the world cup, or starting before and take a break. Our coach wants at least 6 weeks to prepare the team for the competion...Federation, Sponsors, teams are discussing which would be the best solution for everybody!!!
Shit didn't realise Papi and sartoretti may have retired all ready! That sux. Lucky you will have a few handy reserves like you mentioned. as well as Simineov (what is it with you guys stealing bulgarians)
Yeh World Champs will be interesting, I know the Aus National team want the clubs to release players from November 1st till the end of their campaign. Itll all be very interesting to see how the clubs respond.
Hey Nathan,
you're right, I forgot Simeonov!!!
Big guy too!!
Well, we're not stealing anyone, I'll tell you how it works even if probably you know.
One of Simeonov and Zlatanov's parent is from Bulgaria, Lasko's father is from Poland. I don't know exactly what has been their nationality when they born, but as soon as someone start to play volleyball in Italy, they are "Italian" players.
Why don't you ask your libero something about the Danish National team setter Axel Jacobsen? That was amazing!!!
P.s.
Don't forget all the cubans who escape from their Island and ask Political Asylum in Italy...we could also call them!!!
hahaha well ok thats cool I understyand that now. My mum was actually born in Italy and my nonna and nonno moved to Australia when she was only young. I still have lots of family in Castelfranco, just outside of Venezia.Trouble was when theyt moved they stupidly gave up there Italian citizenship for Australian (instead of getting joint citizenship. If they didn't I could also have the privelidge of being Italian!! That could be handy when playing volleyball in europe! But oh well!
I think the Cubans is taking it a little far though! But I guess it's not really against the rules.
Are you half Italian?
Well, I understand now why you are only half-good player, ejhejeh Just kidding!!
Well, It won't be against the rules to have Cubans in our national team, but it won't be fair, almost because they already played with the Cuban National Team...and people and players in Italy wouldn't like it!!!!
I wonder how much Italian you speak...
haha nah i know fuck all Italian!Although when I was in Italy I found it easy to undersand after only a week. Wish i did learn some though, it's a cool language!
