A tribute to Italian Volleyball
When you talk about volleyball, you must think about Italy!!!
There have been 5 European Cups Final Four this year...and we won 5!!!
I don't remember who has been the first one to win, but they all deserve to be in my blog, even if i wonder how much they care, hehehe
Here it is Copra PIACENZA who wins the Men's Austrian Airlines Top Teams Cup in Palma de Mallorca beating Portol Son Amar PALMA 15-9 at the 5th set, with Grbic as Best Setter, Sergio as Best Libero, Simeonov as Best Server and Best Spiker and Leonel Marshall as MVP [That's yout man Ole!!!]
Sant'Orsola Asystel NOVARA won the women's Top Teams Cup in Moscow winning in 3 sets Dinamo Moscow, with Qi He as best setter, Paola Cardullo as best libero and Taymaris Aguero as best scorer and MVP
Scavolini PESARO is CEV CUP 2005/06 CHAMPION beating Bigmat Kerakoll CHIERI in 3 sets in the all-Italian final in Turin.
Both teams took all the Individual awards, Maurizia Borri and Elena Godina as best libero and best server for CHIERI; Lindsey Berg has been awarded as best setter, Martina Guiggi as best blocker, Sheilla as best Attacket and our National team's captain Simona Rinieri as best receiver and MVP
Lube MACERATA successfully defended the CEV Cup title in Padova, overthrew Russian Iskra ODINTSOVO in 3 sets [I know you guys from Aalborg really tryed to avoid them this defeat!!]
By the way, Lube's setter Sintini was awarded as best one of the final four, within Rodrigao as best spiker and an awesome Ivan Miljkovic got Best Blocker, Best Scorer and MVP
Last week-end in Cannes Pallavolo Sirio PERUGIA brought the 5th Cup "at home".
In Cannes the girls beated RC CANNES 3-1 securing the Women's Indesit European Champions' League, with personal awards for Mirka Francia as Best Spiker and Helia Rogerio de Souza as Best Setter.
This week-end, for the Indesit European Champions' League 2005/2006 Final Four Alberto CISOLLA, here in the picture interviewed by the legendary Andrea "Zorro" ZORZI, comes back to Palaeur in Rome where he won the last European Championship and the personal award as MVP of the competion.

The Old School guys are now TV commentator, as Zorzi...all those Cups belong to the new generation, specially for the women side!!!
